With this Plan there is no Deposit. You choose the diaper package you'd like. We will contact you with the color and size selections and the choose to rent or rent-to-own and send you a bundle of diapers to care for while you diaper your baby. You can rent as many diapers as you'd like as long as they are in bundles of 6.
The first block of time is 4 months you can prepay or be invoiced for any time following. Buying extra time in bulk will say you money. You can also purchase a discounted care package with this rental plan.*
This is a great plan for those of you who like sized diapers and don't like the cost purchasing a stash after each growth spurt baby with have those first few years. Hiney Lineys Review and Giveaway from Lovely Eco Chic!
We met Mary from Lovely Eco Chic during the weekly #clothdiapers Twitter chat. (For those of you who are interested in joining us, it’s Monday nights at 9 EST.) Mary has five kids and has been cloth diapering since her 12 year old was a baby. Back then, she started with rubber pants! Now as her youngest gets close to moving out of diapers, she satisfies her fluff love by helping other mommas get cute diapers.

Mary sent us both a Hiney Lineys Try It kit to review, which includes one Versa cover, one Liney, and one snap-in insert.
I received the Indian Cotton insert, and I found it quite bulky. However, Hiney Lineys also has a Zorb II insert option through Lovely Eco Chic, and it is much thinner. I also found that I enjoy using the Versa cover on its own. You can, of course, use the Liney with the cover to use it with any insert you have. My favorite combo is actually the Versa cover with an AppleCheeks bamboo insert!
Though I didn’t use it often, my Indian Cotton insert came apart at the snaps. Mary worked very hard to correct the situation, and now I have a new insert directly from Hiney Lineys! I have yet to use it because my mother-in-law is prepping it with her towels right now since I don’t like boiling inserts with snaps and my washer does not have hot water hooked up to it. However, I can already tell that it is trimmer, especially since the bottom of the insert is sewn together. I’m anxious to use it and see how it compares to the Indian Cotton insert!
The Hiney Lineys Try It kit comes with one Liney, a snap-in stay-dry liner. If you’re used to pocket diapers and like a fuller stay-dry coverage than a liner, the Liney is a great addition to your stash. The Liney also has snap covers over the area that would irritate baby. It’s nice to know that Abby won’t get red marks from them! The Liney I received is a dark brown, which works great at hiding stains! While I try to keep stains at bay, it’s hard without washing in hot water. I use the sun and lemon juice a lot, but it’s an endless battle. I’m glad that I don’t have to worry about it with this diaper! However, I don’t use the Liney much because I’m used to using covers by themselves.
While the insert isn’t my favorite and I can take or leave the Liney, the Versa cover is definitely my go-to cover for Abby! I love the fit on her as well as the color. I like that the AppleCheeks insert fits in it perfectly and that I know it won’t leak. I love putting her in this cover when we’re in town or in the car for a while. It’s definitely a go-to diaper around here!

The diaper features rise snaps, which are located on the back of the diaper, rather than the front, which seemed a little odd to me. Nehemiah is on the largest rise setting, though, so it wasn’t an issue for us one or the other. It also features elastic across the back to help contain messes, and plenty of snap settings for hip and waist adjustments to fit a large variety of sizes.
Overall, the Hiney Liney system didn’t end up being one of my favorites. Snapping the liner in and trying to make sure everything was lined up correctly felt more complicated to me than using my pocket diapers. The snap-in insert also had a tendency to shift around while I was putting the diaper on Nehemiah, so I had to watch for that. I also didn’t like having to get everything unsnapped after the diaper had been used before I could toss it in the diaper pail.
One nice thing about this system is that it does provide a stay-dry liner, with a cover than can be used multiple times. The liney was great for easy poo removal – solids rolled right off without much trouble, and we didn’t experience any issues with stains.
I also really liked the cover when used by itself over my prefolds, flats, or fitteds. I often used it over night time diapers, and it stood up to my heavy wetter without any trouble!
The fit was also good on Nehemiah, whether I used it as a cover or I used the whole Hiney Liney system. Here he is modeling it. I should mention that he was on a mission to run away from me the entire time I was trying to take pictures. He even sat down and just grinned and shook his head at me, so I couldn’t get any booty shots! I kept having to sneak up on him

When I first received my diaper, I was very confused. There are several snaps involved, and though I had used side-snaps before, this design was very different. After looking at it closely, though, I figured it out. If you’re using a snap-in insert, you would attach that to the Liney first and then attach the Liney to the Versa cover. (At least that’s the easiest way I found to do it!)

I think if you like AI2 systems, you should give the Hiney Liney system a try and see if its a good fit for you! If you are looking for a good cover, I definitely recommend it.

Mini Maestro Review/Giveaway
As promised I am reviewing the absorbency of Mini Maestros new insert. With the review I am giving you all a chance to win your own Mini Maestro.
This is exciting to me because Mini Maestro sits at the top of my stash and the diaper my husband and mother request if they are left home with my son. My experience with the has been amazing. The feel, the fit and the usability is fabulous. This hook loop is not positioned to rub up against your babies delicate skin as many hook loop tend to do if your baby isn't just the right size. They have a trim fit for your older baby in their jeans. Having boys this is a huge factor for us. The elastic is inside the fleece around babies legs. No imprints left on chunky thighs. I loved my old insert. I can't wait to show you all the improvements.
Just some basic info about Mini Maestro is a sized diaper. You can get Small, Medium, Medium Slim or Large. Your not going to find a One Sized diaper here. They make diapers to fit.This is preferable since all babies are different and One size as adjustable as they might be are not always the best choice for your baby. They have not been for mine. I prefer a sized diaper.

Using a PlanetWise Sandwich size food storage bag and allowing no time for the water to absorb. Calling the older insert #1 and the newer insert #2.

Our second test is measuring how much water the insert holds after the wash.
Original weight vs. right out of the washing machine
#1 insert was 2.05 oz. dry. With wash it became 3.95 oz. That's is almost twice the weight of a dry insert.
#2 insert was 2 oz. dry. With the wash it became 3.50 oz. That's an entire 1.5 oz. gained.
Our next test is submerging the insert into 8 oz of water and measuring what is left after 5 minutes. We have to wait on the dryer now. ****
I had to do 12 oz. of water on each. The old #1 insert held all but 15 ml. The new #2 insert was all but 50ml. I can't wait to see after it's been washed another month or so since bamboo is more absorbant over time. Thanks you for this opportunity.

Science Experiment Results
This is our final results for: What cloth diaper is the most absorbent?
Our three finalists are Thirsties Duo, Hiney Lineys Versa System and Happy Heinys with a Hemp/Cotton Fleece Prefold.
This test was 8 ounces of water in a gallon size Planet Wise Food storage bag. We turned the diapers inside out submerging the inside into the water. We timed the soak for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes we pulled the diaper out slowly letting what ever poured of dripped off the diaper collect in the bag. Then we measured the liquid left.

Day 5 of our Science experiment
Here's our final test. We have narrowed down our results to Hiney Liney Versa system, Thirsties Duos, and Happy Heinys with a Geffen Baby organic hemp/cotton fleece prefold size small.
Our final experiment is adding 8 ounces of water into our gallon size Plane Wise food storage bag. The diaper is submerged inside out for 5 minutes and what is left in the bag is measured.

Experiment Day 4
First Test dumping 4 ounces of water showed Hiney Liney and Thirsties Duo to be most absorbent and the outside of the cover stayed dry.
Second test showed Geffen Baby, bumGenius, Incredibum, and Thirsties Duo holding more than half of their weight dry in liquid right out of the top loader washing machine.
Test 3-
This test is timed. We assemble all the diapers on the largest setting. We poured 4 ounces of water in a one gallon Planet Wise food storage bag. Turning the diaper inside out and dipping the diaper in the liquid for 5 minutes here are the results we got.
Second test showed Geffen Baby, bumGenius, Incredibum, and Thirsties Duo holding more than half of their weight dry in liquid right out of the top loader washing machine.

- GroVia Shell and Hemp Cotton blend soaker - left 50ml in the bag, the cover was dry.

- Babykicks 3G - absorbed all 4 ounces, cover wet around legs.
- Hiney Lineys Versa - absorbed all 4 ounces and the cover is dry.
- bum Genius 4.0 - left less than 2.5 ml in the bag, around the leg was wet.
- Thirsties Duo -absorbent all 4 ounces with a dry cover
- Happy Heinys OS w/ Geffen Baby hemp/cotton fleece prefold - absorbed all 4 ounces and cover was dry.
- Happy Heiny w/Geffen Baby prefold -absorbed all of the additional 4 ounces. The cover was wet.
- Hiney Liney - absorbed all of the additional 4 ounces. The cover remained dry.
- Thirsties Duo - absorbed all of the additional 4 ounces. The cover was completely soaked through.
Experiment Day 3
As it stands currently Hiney Lineys and Thirsties Duo are the most absorbent holding 4 ounces in our first test with a dry cover. I found out that Mini Maestro has a new insert 5 layers (bamboo / flannel / zorb / flannel / bamboo) I should be testing. They are gracious enough to being shipping me one to try. Once recieved I will be updating older post and this with the results in Red. I can't wait to see how they rank knowing and seeing how thirsty both bamboo and zorb both are.

Science Experiment Day 2
We decided that an average 2 year old holds about 4 ounces in their bladder. Since most 2 year old babies are still in diapers we would use a 4 ounce bladder as the base for what each diaper should hold.
For this test we placed the diaper set up on it's largest setting into a gallon size Planet Wise Food storage bag. We poured exactly 4 ounces of water into the diaper. The water that spilt over the sides of the diaper was poured in to s dry glass measuring cup and recorded. We do not feel this was the most accurate test. Our reason is some of the covers looked wet on the outside after this test.

Objective: To find out what cloth diaper holds the most liquid.
How: Each diaper will be weighed clean and dry. Each diaper will be placed into a clean Ziploc bag while water is added to collect any spilled water. Water being added to the diaper will be measured as well as the water spilt for the diaper.

#clothdiapers for babies in Haiti with no Mama and AIDs
This is a flat rate US Post box. It have 20 cloth diapers in it.
I want to fill this box with your used cloth diaper for the kids of Haiti Comfort. An orphanage in Haiti for kids with AIDs. I will give a $25 gift certificate to Lovely Eco Chic to one person who's diaper is in the box.
I will do this for every box filled.
Each box will be linked to this spread sheet where the generous donations donnars will listed. From each box of carefully labeled diapers a winner will be selected.

Daycare and the cloth diaper
Here's my qualifications to write on this subject. I have five kids. Three I have used cloth in daycare, both home and centers. I have used wash at home and industrial diaper services. I have worked full time away from my children and home for up to 60 hours a week for eleven years. Currently I work as a preschool substitute and can see how cloth is being used on babies.
Cloth as we all know is not as popular as it needs to be. There are a lot of day cares that are not cloth diaper friendly. How ever there are some baby's who are not disposable friendly with breathing issues such as asthma or skin that just can't handle all the chemicals used to make paper absorbent. I have had one of each of these little ones.
When shopping for day cares here in California where I live most in-home days cares are fine with cloth once you show them no diaper pins are involved. However most in-home day cares are not receptive to the Snappi either. (A snappi is a rubber claw system invented to replace a diaper pin on prefold diapers.) My in-home day cares have preferred hook loop (Velcro) over snaps.
Center day cares can present a challenge. Some have in their contract they wont take a cloth diaper baby for sanitary reasons unless it's doctor approved and industrial delivery service. So get a doctors note right? Easy fix? I have been fortunate to have a pediatrician that is Pro natural parenting and will right that note. Some doctors are on the fence with cloth diapers and may take some convincing. Industrial diapering service may present a problem for some families for several reasons.
When I started cloth diapering 11 years ago I used a cloth diaper service. They picked up and dropped off at day care. I paid the same if not more than disposable diapers. My beautiful baby girl had pale white skin and disposables would allow her urine to burn her skin. Prefolds, pins and rubber pants solved this issue for us.
When my son came along 5 years ago we started with a similar system only the rubber pants were cotton covers and we did not us pins or Snappis. Then I found bum Genius 3.0 OS, FuzziBunz and Happy Heiny sized. My son was in a center where he was the first of many cloth diapered babies. This day care preferred Hook loop and a wet bag that could be easliy sealed. bum Genius was not a favorite for them because of the adjusting rise snaps. FuzziBunz snaps confused them and often were snapped too loose leaving huge poopy explosions. Happy Heinys had neither of these. I stuffed them and the diapered Sonny as if he was wearing disposables. He had a small draw sting bag that came to school with the clean diapers and left with the dirty.He used this system until he started to potty train.
My last little man is 3. Same day care and new diapers on the market. I tried bringing Flips as I loved them at home. Day care wasn't thrilled. The insert removal was to much to deal with until I showed them the bamboo disposable insert then I was talking their language. I did have to give a quick training and at first I only had one teacher loving it. Now they can all use them and will. The other diaper I brought in day care has asked for as a preference is Mini Maestro. They like them because they are hook loop and trim so dressing Declan after each diaper is easier. They still love Happy Heinys sized the best.
The last part of cloth in day care is trainers. All though there are some great diapers that double as training systems a lot of them have snaps. Snaps when you have a room full of kids and and your cloth diapered baby is squirming is just to much at daycare. My day care center agreed to help me test several cloth trainers to determine what was most day care friendly. Their favorites are Kawaii for the early learner and Eco Posh or Imse Vimse to catch the occasional accident of the more advance learner. For nap, or those days the training isn't going so well they just add a Hiney Lineys Big kid right over his trainers.

Not New to cloth diapers but These new diapers are amazing
Growing up being the kid in high school sure to protest and shop goodwill, you can only imagine that when I had my first child we raised her as natural as possible. Going as far during pregnancy as to give up chap stick, hair products and cooking in cast iron to get my vitamins and prevent chemicals from crossing over to my growing baby. Naturally my daughter was breastfed solely and cloth diapered or wore nothing at all.
Diapers when I started were flats only at the time they were just called cloth diapers with rubber pants over them. We used a diaper service that trucked the diapers to and from us. Picking up the dirty ones and leaving us with industrial washed new ones. Not very earth friendly when you think of all the gas and bleach used. My five years ago when we had my son we started with disposables purely because diapers service was expensive and not very Eco anything. At three months old I was chatting with a friend who told me that out of desperation she was begging for diapers on Craiglist.org and a kind stranger sent her so previously used Kushies. This was so cool. She even washed them her self.
Before long I came home with a package of Gerber Prefolds and rubber pants. What was a Kushie anyway? A diaper right. I was going to use cloth and wash them my self. A couple of issues surfaced. First I couldn't find a diaper pin any where to save my life. Second the Gerber prefold wasn't as big as my old diaper service flats. Third rubber pants were not rubber anymore they were plastic? I was very frustrated.To top it off a few days later my breast pump wasn't working right. I was a working Mom and it needed to be fixed NOW!
The company I got my pump from six years earlier with my daughter got me in touch with a Natural parenting store. While she was looking at my pump I saw them hanging on a clothes line in the front window. Six brightly colored Fuzzibunz diapers. I bought six and my "modern" cloth diapering adventure began. I started with the Fuzzibunz, then I found Kushies on line and got five of those. I was addicted and found my self jumping from baby store to baby store buying what I could. Kushies, Fuzzibunz and bumGenius. Life got really interesting when I decided to look on-line. I found Diaper Pin Reviews and invested in every cute boy print I could find of a brand called Happy Heinys. (By the way this to date is my favorite.)
These diapers became my staple through two babies. I was a breastfeeding, cloth diapering baby wearing mama and had no clue I was even cool. Along came Twitter. Everyone had a hashtag # followed by clothdiapers. People were tweeting about clothdiapers. Wow! People were using cloth diapers, not just me???? Then a person Tweeted about Flip being in Walgreens #clothdiapers. What was that? I had to know. I opened the photo linked to the tweet and there it was..... Flip and bumGenius. It was cloth diapers. Holy cow!!!! Cloth diapers in a drug store. I had to have a Flip.
It was amazing, that Flip. It was first a cover that worked with an insert that didn't need to be in a pocket. Oh and it was made by the same people who made bumGenius. I knew what they were. Cloth diapers were evolving. I fell in such deep love with the Flip I converted my entire stash in to seven Flip diapers, their stay dry liners and disposable inserts. I bought them all at the same store.
Then I found Etsy. Handmade items. My husband was the biggest fan of a flannel blanket I make. He told me to make some and sell them. Well I made a bunch and never sold one. I had a good review on a blog. I gave a few away a noticed there was so much more on social networks around cloth diapers than snuggling blankets big enough for your preschooler. I gave up on my handmade store. Started getting sick and was invited to try out some trainers by the shop I bought all my Flips from. It was so much fun seeing all the different trainers. I was desperate to find a way to supplement money since I couldn't work as hard and opened Lovely Eco Chic.
Here we are....my chance to share my love of learning, finding better solutions and raising my family as chemical free as I can.
Here it is. These new cloth diapers amaze me. The fabrics used, the inserts, the design of the diapers I'm intrigued with something new daily. My baby is almost too big for diapers. He wears them at night. I wont be having another baby. Lucky for me I am targeting finding more and more products for kids and adults. Finding out more about Green living around the house and in the garden. Still interested just enough to strive to find you the easiest ways to start you sustainable foundation to a healthy natural life. Alright a lot.
