Science Experiment Day 2

We decided that an average 2 year old holds about 4 ounces in their bladder. Since most 2 year old babies are still in diapers we would use a 4 ounce bladder as the base for what each diaper should hold.

For this test we placed the diaper set up on it's largest setting into a gallon size Planet Wise Food storage bag. We poured exactly 4 ounces of water into the diaper. The water that spilt over the sides of the diaper was poured in to s dry glass measuring cup and recorded. We do not feel this was the most accurate test.  Our reason is some of the covers looked wet on the outside after this test.

Our results:
  • Incredibum Yes, can hold 4 ounces of liquid. The cover looked wet.
  • Babykicks 3G Yes, can hold 4 ounces of liquid. The cover looked wet.
  • Gro-Via No, it held 2 ounces of water. The cover looked wet.
  • Mini Maestro No, it held 2.3 ounces. The cover looked wet
  • bumGenuis 4.0  Yes, it can hold 4 ounces of liquid. The cover looked wet.
  • Thirsties Duo  Yes, it can hold 4 ounces of liquid. The cover did not look wet.
  • Hiney Liney  Yes, it can hold 4 ounces of liquid. The cover did not look wet.
  • Happy Heinys + Geffen Baby prefold No, it can hold 3.6 ounces. The cover looked wet.

Our next test we are going to pour 4 ounces of water in the bag and turn the diaper inside out an submerge in the liquid for 5 minutes to see how much is collected.  Take a guess what you think will absorb the most. A random winner will be selected for a $10 gift certificate. You don't need a correct answer to win.
